  • Some people can visit Norway without a visa, but most people from countries outside the EU/EEA must apply for a visitor visa
  • To check if you need a visa, visit the official website of UDI
Taxi
  • A taxi is quite expensive, so opt for public transport
  • If a taxi is a must, use official services, can normally be found at the airport or on local websites
  • Popular local taxi apps NorgesTaxi, Taxifix, Vy app, Taxilink
  • Uber can be found in the main big cities only
Navigation on-site
Make sure to install the Maps Me app in advance and download the offline map of Malaysia for the specific region you'll be visiting
  • Mobile network operators are Telenor and Telia, can be bought at the airport, small shops (7-eleven), or the official mobile operator store in the city
  • E-sim (if your phone supports this feature). You can order it through third-party service websites
  • You may not even need a SIM card because there is Wi-Fi available in many places
  • Install the WiFi Map app - the map with WiFi hotspots and passwords, and get a 10% discount on purchasing an e-sim (use promo code 7ECF3FK for SIM card purchase)
Currency exchange
  • Currency - Norwegian krone (NOK)
  • You can bring foreign currency in the equivalent of a maximum of 25000 NOK (~2400 USD)
  • The best option is to pay by card or withdraw money from the ATM (don't forget to check exchange rates and fees)
  • The exchange rate in the exchange offices is not good
From the airport to the city
  • Bus, train, metro, taxi (depends on the city)
  • Mostly, you need to buy a ticket for a public transport in advance in the app or at the airport/ticket machine
  • At the bus you can buy a ticket only with cash
Where to stay
  • Hotels, apartments, guest houses, campings
  • Search through booking websites
  • Try local specialities:
  • brunost (a special type of brown cheese that has a sweet and salty taste at the same time);
  • fish; salmon, cod;
  • meat-based dishes: reindeer, lamb, meatballs, smoked sausage;
  • cinnamon buns;
  • There are Michelin- stars and recommended restaurants
