Key things to know before your trip

Visa on arrival. You need to bring 2 photos; an additional fee may apply. If you go by bus, you should buy a visa from the bus company/driver for 40 USD and they will arrange everything
E-visa (apply online in advance) Official website
A 30-day visa costs $30 USD plus $6 USD for online application processing. (The visa is valid for 3 months from the date of issue, allows a single entry, and permits a stay in the country for up to 30 days). E-visa processing takes 3 working days. It's possible to extend the visa for another 30 days without leaving the country

Navigation on-site

Make sure to install the Maps Me app in advance and download the offline map of Cambodia for the specific region you'll be visiting

Official stores of mobile operators Metfone, Cellcard, Smart; available at the airport (usually at higher rates). Passport and money in cash are required
E-sim (if your phone supports this feature)
Install the WiFi Map app - the map with WiFi hotspots and passwords, and get a 10% discount on purchasing an e-sim (use promo code 7ECF3FK for SIM card purchase)

Currency exchange

Exchange - Cambodian riel (KHR), also they officially use US dollars
Exchange your money at banks or currency exchange offices. Or just use dollars. They accept only new notes
When receiving change in dollars, ensure you are given the newer bills. The older ones are seldom accepted for transactions, and if they are, it's usually at a diminished rate This is a common practice in many countries
Be aware that card payments are not accepted everywhere

Shuttle bus, $8 USD (round trip $15). The bus doesn't stop directly in the center, so you might need to take a tuk-tuk or taxi to get to your hotel
